The inclusion of MD in the camera model name is an invention of users
and sellers. It wasn't an official Olympus designation. IMHO, it makes
more sense to identify the initial non motor drive equipped OM-1 as a:
OM-1 (non-MD)
and a MD modified body as:
OM-1 (MD'ed) or OM-1(MD modified)
just like you would call a modified non-AI Nikkor lens "AI'ed"
There would be no such thing as a OM-2 (non-MD), which, conversely,
makes "OM-2n MD" or "OM-2 MD" rather bizzare invented names. I bet it
confuses some newbie buyers who wait and wait till a OM-2n MD appears
for sale.
