Actually, I don't know that yet. But the intense yellow of this lens is
typically a clue that there is the possibility of one or more rare earth
elements. What I don't remember is if a white piece of paper viewed
through the lens takes on a yellow or yellow-green cast.
I've arranged to borrow a early silver snout and a late black snout
model of this lens to cover my bases in testing this hunch.

Gary,
Many long years ago when I subscribed to Leica Fotographie they
occasionally talked about their rare earth glasses. Since there has
been discussion of only using the Geiger counter with the 55/1.2, is
that way of making glass something that has come and gone? When it
was discussed years ago, it never occurred to me that there might be
measurable radiation for the mineral salts used to make the glass
even though were from rare earth metals.
