Both front and rear elements of zooms are usually not too hard. But would
recommend you NOT dissemble internal sections which have the multistart
focus/zoom threads. Spacing and relative aligment can become a big issue on
reassembly. Even the floating element fixed Zuiko's don't seem too bad as
they only seem to have small corrector lenses that "float". I have not
dissembled the 35-105 but the front elements usually just come out with
loosening/removal of the Zuiko name ring. The safest way to do this is
usually with a rubber bung. (Try Fargo Enterprises for tools) Lens spanners
easily cause damage in a slip, so try a bung first. In any case, cut out a
close fitting protective cover for the lens front element, from a piece of
card or thin plastic milk container. This prevents gross disasters. Many OM
lens front elements stick far forward, so the rubber bung sometimes needs to
be hollowed out so it does not press on the front element. Dust free finger
cots are handy for reassembly to prevent fingerprints. When removing the
front elemement it is relatively easy to damage the sharp cut edges, avoid
tilting it until it is out. Check the OM archives for other descriptions of
disassembly.

Tim Hughes
