I intend to test them both as soon as the Tamron comes back from service
(defective macro).
By the way, after I had bought the 85-250 in Copenhagen, I took the train over
the new 20km bridge from Copenhagen to Malmoe in Sweden, where I visited Ulf
Westerberg (Nature photographer, and ex-list member whose OM-4's died in the
rain forests); I bought his last Olympus body (-1n), a Zuiko 35-70/3.5-4.5, and
a few minor things like a T20 TTL foot. He also showed me his new Nikon AF
300mm/2.8 - beautifully lens with super fast focussing.
A result of buying the new lens is that he is intending to sell his Tamron SP
400mm/f4 with SP 1.4X and 2X converters; anyone interested? Check Gary's tests
to see the outstanding performance of this fantastic lens.
Ulf's e-mail address is ulf.westerberg@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I should add that Ulf does not know that I am sending this info out.....but he
talked about selling to the list first.
He also has some great nature photos; see
www.start.at/westerberg
(seems to be down at the moment, he is probable removing some of the items that
I bought from his Olympus sellout!).
mvh / regards

:Indeed, that is your wisest bet. Who is to say that someone else's lens
:will perform the same as the one you might have in hand? Plus, only you
