I did buy the lens for $190; as a bonus the guy selling threw in a thick ring
binder full of all sorts of Olympus stuff, mostly ads in Danish, English, and
German from right back to the late 70's. He said that he had had a great amount
of Olympus stuff, but was selling it all in favour of a Mju II (Stylus)!
He also gave me what appears to be an unopened book called "The OM System Lens
Handbook" published by Olympus in 1984 (date says C240E - 1984), which has great
descriptions of the current Olympus lenses - I think that this book has been
discussed on the list before.
>From the book I discovered that the 85-250 has a "low colour dispersion lens
construction for the first positive lens group used in focussing". Is this the
same as low-dispersion elements?
Unfortunately, the lens was missing the tripod collar; are these still
available?

:That's a good price. Of 12 samples in my e-Bay auction database, only
:2 sold for less than US$200. One sold for US$175 and another sold for
:US$125. The other 10 sold for US$212 and up.

:Personally, I don't find the two-touch to be a problem. In fact, it's kinda
:nice that the focus doesn't shift when you zoom. Just personal
:preference, I guess?

:A typical zuikoholic ploy to increase the lens collection! Works pretty
:good in convincing the significant other, too, I hear! :-)
:Hope I've been helpful...
