Having just acquired a nice OM-2N, which I am finally getting used to
turning on and off, I think we need to remind ourselves that the battery
drain is related to a very nice feature of the OM-2S/4(x) -- the
ever-ready display/metering system. The price for this system is some
battery drain. I had gotten pretty used to the fact that with the OM-2S
on a winder I could rather quickly grab, focus, and shoot in auto
without thinking about anything other than the shot itself. With the
OM-2N I am constantly thinking about turning the meter on and off, on
and off.
The ultimate on/off switch is to remove the batteries.
If we are going to hit John up for useful customizations, my vote is for
a timer switch with a shorter or tuneable duration. :)
