I'd venture to allow at least 5-6 hours. Most film manufacturers recommend a
2 hour wait just from refrigeration, though you can usually get away with an
hour in moderate temperatures. Remember a freezer is running at about -20
Celsius (around zero deg. F in old money). That's a big temperature change.
The best way IMHO is to transfer frozen film to fridge for a few
days/weeks/months first - it will still be stored at the optimum temperature.
During film development a change of as little as 10 deg C can be enough to
cause fine reticulation. Tri-X is favoured by those who wish to reproduce
this effect. Swapping between hot (40deg C) and cold (5deg) rinse water is
usually adequate.
