When you sign up for ebay here, they used to suggest using your email
address as your ebay ID. NOW they are expecting everybody to set up new IDs
which are NOT their email addresses.
They say they are doing this to prevent someone from harvesting email
addresses. Yeah, sure.

Whatever the reason may be, German eBay works like this since a long
time - and in Germany reserve auctions aren't even allowed...
But I do not see how eBay could possibly think to prevent the practice
you describe this way - certainly they are not allowed to read the
email which they are forwarding?
