Virus Alert: "Anna" Virus
There's a new virus spamming the world. VBS/SST, also known as
the "Anna" virus, has some of the same characteristics as last year's
ILOVEYOU worm; namely, it sends itself to others using addresses
from your Microsoft Outlook address book. Antivirus software companies
are still investigating this new worm. We do know that "Anna" is a mass
mailer: once you open the attachment, VBS/SST spawns new messages
containing the virus and sends them off to everyone listed in your
Microsoft Outlook address book. Consequently, "Anna" has the capacity
to overload e-mail servers.
This new VBS virus arrives via e-mail with the following information:
Subject: Here you have, ;o)
Body: Hi: Check This!
Attached: AnnaKournikova.jpg.vbs
Clicking on the attachment activates the worm. To protect yourself,
don't open any suspicious email attachments. Also, make sure you have
the latest antivirus definitions running on your system.
