That's normal. The auction start time is the time at which the seller
submitted the item to ebay. eBay rebuilds the search database on a
periodic basis, and doesn't rebuild it every time someone submits a new
auction. It seems eBay has a 1-2 hour rebuild cycle for the database,
so if a seller happens to just miss a rebuild, they won't show up in
the search until the next time around. There really is no way to know
exactly how long an item was available in the search database.
