I have no experience of the 600 tele but have had the Zuiko 500mm
reflex (f/8) for a few weeks.
I used the latter recently to take photographs of a lunar eclipse
with exposures of about 1/15 to 1/30 sec in many cases.
Several of the exposures, using a tripod, where I pressed the
trigger by hand were blurred (looked double images) whereas I had no
problems with those taken using the self timer. In my case, I put the
result down to the fact that the tripod was indoors on a carpet with the
camera looking through an open window. I think that the tripod bedded down
into the carpet under finger pressure and may have bounced back a little as
I released the pressure.
I imagine that this could happen anywhere that the tripod was
standing on a soft surface including wet grass, soft mud etc instead of a
hard surface like a pavement or rocks.
I did not experience anything similar when using shorter exposures
(1/60-1/125 sec) in daylight with the camera resting on a fence or monopod.
