I think some on list use this method (Giles?). I have no real faith in it,
or perhaps no faith in my ability to improve the result over use of a cable
release. The one exception is in wind. Even the 85-250/5 with tripod mount
moves in the wind on a Bogen 3221. Using the finger is the only way to get
any sort of acceptable result. Otherwise, it's self-timer for me whenever
possible or cable release if time is of the essence.
