Don't agree completely here, since part of the switch also switches
over from photo-diode to switched resistors, so if it goes open in either one
of the "on" positions the time can get very long and approximates lockup. A
more subtle error would be a contaminated (leaky) switch but this would be
more consistantly bad than described.
The other switch that might get flakey ( only on manual ) is the speed ring
switch which might also give a "lockup" effect. Not applicable to Joel since
his problem seemed to be on Auto.
