I forgot to mention another significant factor about the NEC MultiSync NE700
Trinitron monitor - its phenomenal anti-reflective surface.
Sure, flat screen monitors are *supposed* to have this advantage. But the
NEC goes a step further by treating the surface with something called
OptiClear. It's not the kind of palpable, plasticky surface application
used on some monitors that reduce glare and also diminish resolution. I
don't know how it works but it almost totally eliminates reflection - to the
extent that I cannot see my own reflection in the darkened screen. Eerie.
