another option--albiet somewhat far fetched but practical nonetheless--is
that each listie volunteers up, say, US$5 dollars (or equivalent or
something like that), sends to the "eSIF fund, c/o Hans", and you can buy
the needed webspace to host a mirror that can handle that much data and
bandwidth. i recall the list did something similar for Gary Reese by
contributing to his film fund so he could test lenses. with so many
listies, even a small amount per person per year would most likely cover
any costs incurred in hosting. after all, we DO use the eSIF, don't we?
any other ideas/opinions? (other than "go easy on the downloads")
