Easy flash test --
remove the hot shoe from the camera,
attach the flash to the shoe,
short the outer threaded collar of the
center post to the pin in the middle of
the center post to fire the flash
with something metal, like a paperclip --
be careful to hold only the plastic
housing of the flash, don't touch anything
metal on the shoe or you might get a jolt!
If the flash is OK, it'll fire -- if shorting
this way doesn't make the flash fire, either
the shoe's bad or the flash, probably the
flash....
