I'll second that. I recently cleaned a sticky diaphragm on a Topcor
58mm f/1.8 for a Topcon owning friend. From a very nice Topcon owner I
got instruction for disassembling this len which included an admonition
to pay special attention to not losing the spring loaded ball bearing
that serves as the aperture stop detent.
Having been forewarned I thought I was paying extremely close attention
to not letting that ball evade me as I removed the aperture ring. But
the ball was nowhere to be found. For a moment I even considered that
it hadn't been there but quickly realized that it had to be.
Fortunately, my work surface was a small hand towel. Probing around
through the nap of the cloth I eventually found that little ball which I
estimate to be only about 1mm in diameter.
