George, I am not after top dollar (I did say in jest to an online friend that
a bucket of money might help me ease the pain of such a loss)...but that is
not me for anyone who knows me. The "book price" on the lens used is
$3200--$4700" SO I should have gone ahead and asked for the $4700 because of
the condition?
Call me a liar if you will- but I wanted to find the most "deserving" buyer
in a price frame that I was comfortable with. I liked the idea of an offer
with a reason.
A school teacher versus an Baron both having a more equal chance. Some people
have worked VERY hard to attain wealth and position and others teach kids for
low wages as well. I didn't want to put it out to only the elite. However,
I was prodded by some hot responses into throwing my hands up and just say
SCREW THE HUMANITY BIT!! $4000-cold cash! Then the naysayers could crawl
back into their holes and the decent folks-like yourself I assume, could
start accusing me of after money only. That is not the fact.
I would have loved to have heard from someone that has a special project that
this lens will fit. Putting a set price would just mean handing over the
goods-ala eBay option 2 . The way it has turned out.
When I opened the list for "offers/trades"-I would take it as meaning money
and or goods.
But I knew I couldn't come out and say-"$2000 + the best 500 word essay -Why
I need the Zuiko 350mm f2.8". I would have probably heard too many heart
breaking stories of dispair (I would have had a good story ready in the past
too if the opportu ity came up).
I have tried to do right with such a gem.
I have failed. To eBay I lay my hope in humankind. eBay has become my
conscious.
The internet IS evil ! See Bill Gates and Paul Allen what you have down? -Al
Gore I mean.... : )
Now, what if it doesn't hit reserve?
Then we all start again.
Maybe I will just keep the darn trouble maker. I have been trying to get a
picture of an albono raccon on the farm for 6 months now....yeah.... what
better lens?
See? There I go writing my own essay...
Best wishes all
