For comparative tests see: http://brashear.phys.appstate.edu/lhawkins/photo/photo.shtml about 1 or 2 screens down you will see lens tests and the Tamron is among those tested. ALso it is tested at: http://members.aol.com/olympusom/lenstests/default.htm I have the 500/8 and 350/5.6 and think they're both great for travel photography (but have to use a tripod).
