There was a program on PSB television some years ago about an elephant
going out of control at a circus in the US. The whole incident was
captured on video during which the out of control elephant trampled
several people to death. The circus arena with several thousand people
in attendance was a scene of absolute pandemonium and chaos. I do
remember that several shots fired from a 0.30" calibre rifle proved to
be ineffective in bring down this animal. The elephant's trainer was
trampled to death when he tried to bring his animal under control. In
the end I think that the elephant just sat down and returned to his /
her normal self. What does one do when a 14,000 pound animal runs
amuck?
