I dunno about zooms, but the two lenses I've had with slow apertures (a
50/1.8 and a 55/1.2) were both cured by just removing the back lens mount
and cleaning the aperture linkages (the two metal rings attached to the
tabs sticking out the back), and not the aperture blades. This is far
less work than getting to and degreasing the aperture.
