The first 2 digits after the Japanese symbol is the year and month of
production. In this case 1973, January. There should be another number on
the pressure plate, usually 1 through 5.

| This bring up a question I've been meaning to ask. On my oldest OM-1,
| the back of the film pressure plate has a stamp on it that has a Japanese
| character that looks like a cross between a T and an upside down Y
| followed by the number 31. I assume that's the plate identifier. Then
| on the back itself behind the pressure plate is written (in pencil):
|
| KW 56 3.17
| SHT 59.6.14
|
| Any ideas what those might mean? I seem to recall someone (John H?)
mentioning
| that repair codes were written in that spot.
