Hmmmm.... I'm in a bit of a quandry, here, and would like some
suggestion. Here's the scoop:
I'm the proud owner of a chrome OM-2 (S/N 248233) that was recently
(November 2000) gone over with a complete CLA so it's looking and
working great.
An hour or so ago, my favorite used-camera store phones me. Says
they have a guy standing there who wants to sell them a black OM-2
(S/N 356467). It's in perfect shape (only marks on it are on the battery
and winder covers and, yes, they're both black), and the owner says it
was serviced not-too-long-ago (but, of course, doesn't have any proof of
that). The camera does appear to work great, though.
The store-guy wants to know what I think it's worth, so I give them a
range based on my database of e-Bay auctions. He says "thanks a
bunch" and hangs up.
Just a few minutes ago, store-guy calls back. Says he did the deal and
wants to know if I'm interested. I say that I'm interested, but I don't have
any cash right now. (He should *know* that cuz I still owe him for the
200/4 I got from him!) Anyway, after some dickering, he says he's
willing to trade me bodies straight-across.
The reason I'm in a quandry is because my body has four months left on
the six-month warranty given to me by the repair shop. Even though the
owner of the black OM-2 says it was services, it *won't* come with any
warranty other than I can probably get my own body back until it gets
sold or (maybe) trade it back for something else in the store.
So, here's today's big question... Would YOU do this deal, assuming
(of course!) that the black OM-2 looks and works as good as store-guy
says???
Thanks, in advance, for your comments!
Regards,
Chris
