Nope, it's still there -- it's called The Westin Bayshore Hotel now, and 
it's quite nice, although when I stay in Van I prefer either the Sylvia 
(for the atmosphere and surroundings of the west end) or the Pan Pacific 
(for the amenities and closeness to downtown).  Van's a great city -- too 
bad the provincial government's looney tunes.
