Alan,
I've done some work with the local paper here and they still definitely use
film. Processing is no longer "in house" they have a local 1 hr processor
do it. Negs are scanned, corrected and then used in the paper. All scanning
is then dumped onto a CD for "archival". The large newspaper in Victoria
(pop 300M) does essentially the same. It appears only the big city
newspapers are full blown digital. Film has a long way to go before it "dies".
