I'm not convinced that it is fair to compare stepped autofocusing to
rangefinder focusing. You are testing more than the lens performance in
a Epic this way. It has been established by Popular Photography tests
that autofocusing systems at best attain 50 lp/mm focus accuracy. That
is my reasoning for never testing an autofocus camera lens. Also, I
tried it once with a Ricoh GR1 and it couldn't even focus on my test
target: too low a contrast subject.
