Great pic, Hans. Here are a few recent pix of the Candle Factory in
Georgetown, Texas, (north of Austin) taken with my S1 28-90 "Fat Viv":

These were all taken with Kodak Royal Gold 100 in the factory's fairly dim
ambient light. So, since all of these pics were taken at wide open
apertures - 1/15-1/30 @ f/2.8-f/4 - consider them worst-case examples of
what the lens is capable of.
Here's another, sharper, example. If I'd had a tripod with me to shoot at a
smaller aperture and slower shutter speed it'd be even better:
