I'm glad some list members have taken an interest in the history of our
great state, which was a republic for some 13 years. The Alamo was defended
by many individuals from various birthplaces, see
http://www.thealamo.org/defenders.html many of whom were from Tennessee. I
counted 30. They are all Texans from my point of view. As a 7th generation
Texan who has only lived outside of the state for short periods of time, I
find it refreshing that list members have taken an interest in our history.
There are many books about Texas history available, I'd recommend Lone Star
by T.R. Fehrenbach. I like it when folks take an interest in other places
and cultures, so come and visit, just don't MOVE here! :^)
