I just loked at my 4T manual and then tried it on my 4T and it works
just as advertized. I did see a caution which might have bit you.
"The shutter will trip immediately if the self-timer lever is returned
while it is running." The little lever should rotate about 30 degrees
down towards the right side (as you hold it) of the camera.
