My experience is that you have to either pay nothing, or pay the C$5
plus GST (&PST in some provinces) for photo goods (no duty). The
higher the value, the more likely to be dinged. Official limits are
C$20 for purchases, C$60 for gifts, but stuff over US$100 has gone
thru free. I think it probably depends on their workload. "Don't
sweat the small stuff."
With one $600 deal I bought, the girl split it up into separate
packages, with their share of declared value, and over half made it
thru without being dinged.
