spin within several miles of the beach. So much so, that his OM gear
remains in a dessicant-laced zero halliburton case 99.90f the time.
This means that he (again, hypothetically,) takes most of his photos

his wife's cameras, because she is a rational and balanced individual,
doesn't worry over trivia like salt spray, or evidence of a little use

a camera, and is also under the impression that cameras are for using,

Hmm... I would suggest this hypothetical case may need some help ;-) I
live less than a mile from the ocean. I once shot on the press boat
(which was only an 18' Bayliner power boat) for the 505 sailboat worlds
here in Santa Cruz back in 1992. The woman who was the primary working
pro on the boat was a Minolta user and all she did was sailboat racing
work. She told me she did go through a fair number of bodies pretty
often... It was blowing over 30 knots, swells were well over 6 foot.
Conditions were miserable and spray everywhere. My first OM-2S got
drenched a few times there, has been to countless tracks in all
conditions with rain, fog, sweat, etc. and has never missed a beat since
I bought it new. It should go visit John for a much deserved CLA once he
is caught up. Much like a beautiful old race car should be run in
vintage race events regardless of cost, collectability, etc. good
cameras deserve to be taken out and shoot with and enjoyed. Cameras are
simply tools...for making money, for enjoyment, or if you're really
lucky...both. Now, I admit that most prized piece of gear is my recently
aquired 350/2.8 and I will be taking extra measures to see it never
comes into harm's way but you can be sure I will be using it as much as
possible and I already had it right next to the ocean shooting surfers
just last Sunday (got a few good ones my first try too).
Of course we know this hypothetical person isn't anyone on this list
right? ;)
Happy Holidays!
