The OM-4, 4T, 2s, 3, 3T, 77/707, 88/101, and PC/40 all use an
IC-controlled SCR to trigger the flash. Without any power to the
circuit, they cannot fire a flash, even on the mechanical "60" setting
(those that have it). As noted elsewhere, however, even "dead"
batteries may have enough "juice" to trigger the flash for a while.
