Why would I want to vandalise something that's smarter than I am? ;-)
On the subject of fungus, I think I must have been remarkably lucky.
Living in Indonesia for ten years would seem like a recipe for disaster
where lenses are concerned, yet I've never had any problems with
fungus. I keep all my gear in a camera bag with a silica gel sachet
that I haven't rejuvenated since I got it over 15 years ago. I've also
seen quite a few used lenses in dealers' shops and only one had visible
fungus growth (mind you, that one was pretty bad).
