Many folks don't realize that the Exacta was an early postwar experiment in
antimatter. The "camera" disguise was an afterthought, and a relatively
awkward one; later prototypes were disguised as lighters but no functional
examples are known to exist. Those markings you observed are fractions of
quarks. Use them cautiously. Misuse has been rumored to create a zone of
dark matter extending up to three feet in every direction from the camera.
(The intent was to create a focused zone of dark matter extending outward
from the lens up to a distance of 10 meters; or, with the lighter, a
distance of 30cm. The intent was to capture enemy equipment and even
people. The East Germans never figured out how to focus the zone and gave
up the project after all the researchers directly involved in the project
disappeared.) At best, strange colors will result. At worst, well, it's
also rumored that careless exposure has resulted in users being molecularly
bonded with the camera. An uncorroborated story tells of a lab tech
associated with the original project suddenly appearing onstage during the
final showing of "The Rocky Horror Show" during the 1970s. He hadn't aged
at all despite having been missing for nearly 20 years. Unfortunately no
other information is available because nobody took any particular notice of
a strangely dressed young German confusedly wandering around onstage.
Personally, I'd use a self timer or cable release. A long cable release.

...even more mystifying is the rightmost knob on the deck, which has an odd
sequence of numbers on it: 1/5, 1/2, then 1 through 12, then more fractions
(1/5, 3/4, 1 1/2), then 2-6 again...
