John was correct. There is a chemical, can't remember the name, that is in
diesel exhaust that is an order of magnitude more carcinigenic than dioxin.
It is in fact the most carcinigenic material known. It was discovered a year
or so ago by a Japanese researcher. While the quantities of this chemical are
small in the exhaust, it doesn't take much to really cause problems. The soot
has been shown to actually *reduce* rainfall, which is contrary to what you
would normally think. I'm waiting for fuel cells to become cheap. Hope that
happens before I die.
