This email caused me pain because I feel partially responsible. Do y'all
remember a few digests back when I said there was a seller who sold me a
"mint/new" 200mm f/4 that was actually condition 8-9, and I wondered
where to get the word out? I asked if this list was an appropriate place
to post that type of information. The consensus was that this list was
*not* the place to air dirty laundry. Too bad, I might have saved Rich
this painful experience. Personally, I wish there were a warning system,
although I appear to be in the minority in that wish. I find the other
alternatives lacking: 1) leaving negative feedback on ebay simply invites
a trashing of one's own reputation by way of retaliation; and 2) the
http://www.photo.net/neighbor/opc.tcl?category_id=0 is ponderous and
clumsy, listing by first name. It appears that reciprocal trashing is
also a possibility there. Personally, I'd like to see this list
occasionally used as a forum for warnings such as the above. I don't
understand the logic in not talking about Zuiko sellers and dealers. The
point is not to complain, but to inform and protect our Zuiko
e-community. Despite encouragement to the contrary, I feel I should
notify the list that I have returned a lens to RexTex and am currently in
negotiation with him. He has promised a trade for a truly mint/new 200,
which he believes he has in stock, and if not, to issue a refund. RexTex
may be perfectly honorable in this case; the deal is still pending. If
so, kudos to Rextex. In the meantime, weigh my experience and Rich's into
your buying decisions. I'm sorry I've posted this late, Rich.
