How does this combo affect macro photography ? Does it bring U to 1:1 ratio
? I doubt it.....
The 90mm F/2 macro has a 45mm focusing helicoid. The 65-116mm AutoTube
obviously adds up to 116mm; so the combination (45 + 116)mm yields 161mm of
extension.
Magnification (M) = Extension (E) / Focal Length (F)
M = 161 / 90 = 1.7889 magnification, approximately.
Does your lens become very near the subject ?
Your lens should get rather close to the subject - not as close as a shorter
lens at the same M, but close nonetheless.
How is hand-holdability ?
Hand-holding at near macro, macro, and greater than macro magnifications is
not advisable unless one employs flash. Even then composition may be a
struggle as the enlarged image careens back & forth and side-to-side in the
viewfinder. Of course, if one is deliberately going after those type of
effects ... ;-)
