Hi
Sam Shiell
Gants Hill, North London
England.
I've put the odd question on here but am fairly low-key as I get emailed
the list a work and don't always have to time respond (or even read)!
I have a trusty OM1 MD which I bought back in 197something, , 35-75 Zuiko ,
85-210 Tamron and a cheapo 28. I also have a Jessops winder but don't use it
most of the time
I thought you might be interested in this story
.... My lady wife bought me a Slix table-top tripod for my birthday but my
camera bag is now to small, and it's wearing out anyway. I fancied a
back-pack type but couldn't justify the expense (!) so decided to make my
own..
Bought a backpack at a local luggage shop, filled it with foam and cut out
the shapes. I bought a couple of cheap plastic drinks trays that I used at
the front and back to add a bit of rigidity, and hey-presto a customised
backpack case - total cost £ 21.74 (what's that, $40??), as opposed to £50
for the cheapest "proper bag".
The only bit left to do is to cover the foam with some soft nylon to keep
the moisture out ( and to hide the worst bits of my handi-work) which I
haven't bought yet.
The trickiest bit of this whole project was finding a back-pack that was big
enough (and cheap enough) that had a zip all the way around, and I used a
fair amount of petrol finding somewhere that sold foam.
Keep on snapping,
Sam Shiell
