Reportedly Agfa is dropping Ultra 50. And according to a current issue of
Pop Photo they're introducing newer, faster films with the same or better
color saturation and improved detail (never one of Ultra 50's strong points,
despite being a slow film). They're touting a three-layer emulsion as
having superior ability to handle troublesome colors and lighting without
resorting to a fourth layer that Agfa alleges impairs sharpness.
Funny that Reala was considered a saturated color film when first
introduced. It seems rather tame now compared with Kodak Royal Gold and
others.
