When I rode a motorcycle in England in the late fifties/early sixties, Lewis
Leathers in London were suppliers of racing leathers for most motorcycle racers.
They made some very popular unlined leather gloves for summer use (saved a lot
of skin from the hands when you fell off).
These gloves were made of horsehide, and were incredibly tough. I still have
mine forty years later, and they are in fine condition! So I would vote for
horsehide if you want it to last a lifetime...
