I've used the 2-XA with two different 350's. Wide open, there was a slight
loss of contrast and edge sharpness was reduced a little. Out of focus high
lights appear "harsher" when compared to the 350 and 1.4 combination.
Stopping down one stop helps contrast and sharpness. Overall, it is a
workable combination and it is a 700mm F5.6 lens that focuses to 10'. That's
impressive. I think lens stability or very fast shutter speeds are probably
as critical as anything with this combination.
