Basically, Mickey, you need to separate her from the background. Her hair
disappears into the dark wood of the hutch. There are several ways to do
this. One way is to have a lighter color background that is bland (devoid of
"things" that may wind up looking like they are sprouting from her cranium).
Also, open up your lens to around f/2 to make the background blurry. You can
use a hairlight to help differentiate her 'do as Lex suggested, or maybe a
simple reflector would do it. There are millions of ways to do good
portraiture, and I'm certainly no expert at it....
