It's interesting how people react to their lens' "flavour" (as Toni put it).
I've always been very happy with my 50/1.4, partially because I used it
primarily for B&W photography with high-speed film in available light. But
when colour film or slide was used, I still liked it, simply *because* it
didn't add anything to the scene.
Now that I'm into the electronic darkroom more, my attitude is that I can add
or subtract anything I want with Photoshop or other tools, and the cast or
"flavour" of the lens doesn't matter to me.
