: I have used three different types of software with the Polaroid SS4000:
: Insight 4.5 (the native Polaroid scan software), Silverfast, and VueScan.
I
: have made exactly one scan each with Insight and Silverfast, and every
other
: scan I have ever made with the SS4000 has been made with VueScan. There
are a
: couple reasons for this. I had used VueScan also with my Nikon LS-20. It
was
: superior to the flavor of Nikon Scan that came with the scanner
Thanks, I'm convinced. I tried VueScan on a Sensia II slide that came out
dull and muddy with NikonScan, and VueScans image was brighter, sharper and
had a much better colour balance. Also very "cool" that it supports Digital
Ice (CleanImage). Now why does a $900 scanner come with software that
doesn't make the most out of it?
