My experience of sending money to Australia is that I have sent money
twice. First time was when I bought the M1 and for this I sent a telegrahic
bank transfer and it cost me £25 and the second time the seller was prepared
to accept sterling pound notes which I sent it by registered post.
The interesting thing about the whole experience was that it took only a
week for the parcel to arrive here in the UK from the moment I asked my bank
to send the money over, a lot quicker then getting parcel from USA though.
It is possible that the seller may be willing to accept the $ bills in cash!

Subject: [OM] Payment to Australia
I recently arranged to purchase a camera from a fellow in Australia. He
asked for a Cashiers Check. My bank will not issue a cashiers check for the
amount of the purchase (too small). So, Wells Fargo Bank issued a Personal
Money Order in the amount of the purchase payable to the guy in Australia.
I advised the fellow in Australia that I was sending a Personal Money Order
drawn on Wells Fargo Bank. He answered that it may not be accepted at his
bank in Australia. This was after I had mailed the Money Order.
Any list members have experience with this? You Aussies, is a Money Order
from a US Bank acceptable there?
