Actually Olympus did refer to these intangible qualities in their brochures and manuals, altho' they didn't use the term "bokeh". They referred to "pleasing out of focus backgrounds," etc.

Bokeh is fairly subjective altho' it's generally agreed that most Nikon lenses, for example, exhibit an altogether different bokeh. Some describe it as harsh. Some Nikkors and other lenses produce the effect of double-vision or multiple-vision ("cross-eyed") out of focus backgrounds, rather than a smooth blending characteristic of Zuikos (and many Canon FD lenses).

...They demonstrate a real quality among lenses, that
doesn't seem to be big in the sales folders. Is there a technical
measurement for this effect?  Is it all subjective?
