Ed, whatcha want is a Kiron 28-200, possibly the best buy in that zoom type.
Check KEH ads, I believe they have just the puppy you're wanting to adopt.
Forget the Vivitar 28-200; tho' Kino (Kiron) did make a few Series 1
lenses for Viv, the 28-200 isn't among 'em. It's a dog, not a pound puppy
worthy of adopting. The Tamrom and Sigma reportedly are very good, but cost
more than the Kiron. Not enough folks know that Kiron was a sleeper among
quality optics makers, so prices remain affordable.
Shhhh...don't tell anyone else!
BTW, keep in mind that these older manual focus type wide-to-tele-zooms have
limited close focus ability at some focal lengths, so don't expect to do any
macro stuff.
