Some fixed lens rangefinders incorporated this feature. Minolta and Yashica
come to mind. Once the exposure was set, turning the rings together could
be done without looking. Unfortunately I haven't found a working sample of
those models in years.

I can't remember which camera this instruction was for, but I remember
reading that one advantage of the shutter speed in line with the aperture
was that if both rings were rotated together, the effect could be changed
without changing the metering.
