Having had a Spotmatic and a couple of Takumars before moving to Olympus in
the late 70's, I can say they were (are) very nice cameras. Certainly much
better than any other SLR at the time other than perhaps the Nikon F which
was very big and clunky, particularly with its Photomic meter, and the Canon
F1, which was not quite as big and clunky. I think the phrase "may be the
closest we've ever come to a Leica rangefinder in an SLR..." was appropriate
prior to the introduction of the OM-1, but not afterwards.
