For inexpensiveness and utility, I'd recommend Vivitars macro focusing
2x teleconverter with a 50/1.8. This little oddity is a teleconverter
with a focusing helicoid that will get you to 1:1 magnification with a
50mm lens on it, and is surprisingly sharp for what seems like such a
bodge. A 100/3.6 is also occasionally useful for portraits, as is
Tamron's rather nice 90/2.5 macro, which would be my second choice, and
which a list member is currently selling an example of.
